Weinfest 2009

It is that time of the year again, time for the Wiesbaden Weinfests!! Fall is quickly approaching and we are starting to see the signs here. The weinfests have begun, it is starting to get dark earlier, and the farmers have already put out the pumkin carts on the side of the road. In Germany, the way farmers sell pumpkins is on wooden carts on the side of the road. It is all on the honor system. They have a little lock box with a slit on top and a pricelist for the pumpkins based on size. You pick out the pumpkin that you want and drop your Euro into the box and drive away!
Tom visited the weinfest twice already this year. Once with some of his buddies and then he went again with me and my friend from work. We had a fun night and sampled some great Riesling! They also have a lot of good food at the weinfest. We had a cheese platter and currywurst and Tom also tried a pasta dish. Oh, and we can't forget about the music! Mostly American 80's music, of course! It just wouldn't be a true German Fest without 80's music :)

I can't believe that we have been in Germany for over a year now - long enough to experience fun annual events for the second time. Soon it will be Halloween and then the Christmas Markets will start again!
