Wein Fest

This weekend, Tom and I went to a Wein Fest (wine festival) in downtown Wiesbaden. We picked up our friend from her house and then met some other friends there. It was a lot of fun! There was a band playing American disco music (we boogied down to "Play that Funky Music" and other classics)! The Germans really like our music - all the fests that we have been to so far have had American/English music. I only had a few sips of wine since I was driving but Tom and our friends sampled several kinds. We owed Michelle a bottle of wine from when we went out to dinner with her and her husband last weekend, so she helped us pick one out for her at the Wein Fest. We had some brotwurst and pretzels and fruit and cheese platter and eventually decided we should head home. So we walked back to the parking garage and went to pay our parking fees but the ticket would not read in the machine. The German parking attendent had to come out and try to help us. He didn't speak much English, and we speak even less German, but we managed to figure out that I had kept the ticket in my purse next to my 'handy' (cell phone) and that had de-magnatized the strip on the ticket that the machine reads. So I had to tell the guy, in German, what time we arrived in the parking garage and then he programed us a new ticket and we were off :)
